On Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 3:00 am, the Guardian Network Monitoring Service sent an alert to the Algorithm Help Desk that the internet at Boehm was down. Upon investigation, Boehm found that someone had broken in (at 3:00 am) and stolen all of their copper wire. AT&T was able to replace the wires and get Boehm back online later that weekend.
What if Guardian hadn’t been watching? The Boehm team would have arrived on Monday morning without a clue that their network was down and without access to any of their business critical systems.
