Do your research: Find SWOT analyses and articles with Business Source Premier

As a librarian in the Science, Business & News department of Columbus Metropolitan Library, I am always pleased when I can help my customers find a reliable source of information as quickly as possible.

A job seeker in our Job Help Center was looking for an efficient and effective way to research Abercrombie & Fitch to prepare for her job interview. I demonstrated how to use a resource called Business Source Premier.  We found   a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) and 79 full text articles from trade periodicals published in 2011.

I added several full text documents into a folder, and sent them to her Gmail account.  She was relieved to get her company research done so quickly.

For a list of company research resources, start with our Researching a Company online tutorial, which is absolutely FREE via columbuslibrary.org/research/. You will need a library card number to access Business Source Premier.

You can also download or print this checklist to use as your guide. All of the resources listed on the document above are free from your home or office with your library card number and PIN, with the notable exception of Hoover’s Online, which you must visit one of our library locations to use.
